Kyou Kara Ore Wa!! – 01

Kyou kara ore wa - 01

And so, another new project hits the ground running. Kyou Kara Ore Wa!! (a.k.a Starting Today, I’ll!) is a 10-ep set of OVAs that spanned from 1993 right through to 1997 (hopefully we won’t take that long to sub it for you!). We’ve teamed up with our friends over at Yabai to bring you this hilariously foul-mouthed romp through high school deliquency and we sure hope you enjoy it. The first episode is an hour long, whereas the later episodes are 45 minutes, but they’ll fly right by and if you’re anything like me, you’ll get to the end hungry for more (so we’ll try not to stall the next episode for too long!).

WARNING: The following video has been given a 15+ rating by the Saizen Internal Ratings Board (SIRB) due to frequent uses of strong language and comic violence.

DISCLAIMER: Any signs you find in Italian are sadly hardsubbed, and are found on the Italian DVDs that we are using.

This release requires the latest CCCP codec pack installed. You can get it through the link to the left of the torrent link below.

  1. Dude, I’ve been looking for someone to sub this forever. I watched this as a kid dubbed in a different language. It was hilarious. Thanks for picking it up.

  2. Wow this one looks interesting. You guys at Saizen are the best when it comes to classic fansubbing. I hope you guys do know how deeply a lot of us appreciate it, especially since I love a good sports anime – Yawara!, Ashita no Joe, Captain Tsubasa, such a great catalogue! Keep up the good work cause they’re still quite a few sports classics that need some subtitle lovin’. <3

  3. omg. THANK YOU! I absolutely love the manga of Kyou kara ore wa. Hopefully the anime version doesn’t disappoint me 🙂

  4. Not gonna lie, I’m pretty psyched that you guys are doing it. I’d been thinking about picking it up because no one else was, but I guess it’s in good hands now! Thanks, Saizen and Yabai!

  5. Lol, just finished the last OVA today in Russian. Some guy translated them from the Italian dubs, and while watching the OVAs I was hoping that one day I’ll be able to see it with proper English subs. Yay!

It’s the most hilarious stuff I’ve seen after Igano Kabamaru.

  6. @ konnakude: the Russian-translated OVA is not subbed, but dubbed. If there were Russian subs available, I’d translate them easily.

I watched this one on youtube, sdxdb4 has them uploaded there, but only through ep 5. I’m glad that Saizen picked this up. I hope they finish, too, and I hope that Ashita No Joe is not affected by this… Saizen has ep 51 released, and there’s 79 total.

  7. To assuage fears, AnJ has a completely different staff list to Kyou Kara Ore Wa!! so there’s not much fear of one affecting t’other.

  8. I like the plot, I like the style.
I think that kind of anime was made for me ^^.
Thanks for the discovery and broadcast.

  9. Fruit: I heard that certain group has scripts translated for 6-10, could you maybe contact them about these scripts? I tried, but he told me to only talk to him on skype…

  10. I really like this one, nice job!
    I love your subbing.

I was just wondering if anyone is going to take slam dunk up again. Such a nice serie…

    Keep up the awesome work!

  11. @konnakude: Thanks for the link. I found KKOW .ass subs in Russian, supposedly for eps 5 through 10 (and there’s 11 of them). I can translate them and send them over to Saizen once I’m done with my finals, hopefully this will speed up the release of quality stuff.

For eps 1-4 subs, I’ve seen an obscure torrent with english subs, and got it, but it seems to be the same stuff that Saizen has already.

@juggen: If you don’t believe that ANJ has 79 eps, you can check this out either on ANN or anime-planet.

  12. For eps 1-4 subs, I’ve seen an obscure torrent with english subs, and got it, but it seems to be the same stuff that Saizen has already.

    –Huh?
The subs can’t be the same.

I can translate them and send them over to Saizen once I’m done with my finals, hopefully this will speed up the release of quality stuff.
    — Maybe, depends on how much to TLC there would be.
    We’d need 7+.

  13. There’s a group or a person on youtube called sxdxdb4 who’s already been subbing Kyou Kara Ore Wa and is up to episode 6.

Saizen should try to get one of the other good delinquent series subbed like Biker Bombers of Shonan or Bite Me Chameleon. It’s pointless to have 2 groups working on the same series especially when there are 10-15 really good obscure 80s delinquent anime that will probably never be translated unless Saizen or some other group with an appreciating for this kind of genre release them.

  14. A-Style: It was an obvious joke…

ryu-ken: Maybe we want really good subs of KKOW? Maybe we have a special interest in it? You can’t just say, “you’re supposed to do this.” What if I told you “you should stop watching anime and work for charity,” would you do it? lol

  15. ryu-ken: I am sure Saizen’s release is better in every way of comparison, don’t try to think otherwise 😛

  16. It’s not pointless for us to sub Kyou Kara Ore Wa, no. We like it, we sub it. Besides, this youtube subber’s scripts aren’t the best.

  17. sangofe: What do you mean, we’d need 7+ ? As in, from ep 7 onwards?

For eps 1-4 subs, I’ve seen an obscure torrent with english subs, and got it, but it seems to be the same stuff that Saizen has already.

    –Huh?
The subs can’t be the same.

I meant the raws, the subs are .ass files. But now that I took a closer look, it’s still the Italian rips.

  18. Sup homies.

I’m the guy on youtube doing the releases of kyou kara ore wa.

To Ryu-ken, friendly competition is good. It gets more people into the series who might not otherwise have known about Kyou Kara Ore Wa.

Saizen’s releases of the series will no doubt be way better than mine are. I can’t do as good in making the subs and signs look as good as these muthafuckas. Plus I’m pretty lazy and just a one man team and don’t have anyone else to do quality checking and whatnot. Kyou Kara Ore Wa is my all time favorite manga and I waited forever for someone to pick up the anime and no one did so I just said fuck it and attempted it solo. I’ll probably try to finish the series though.

To sangofe, I’m sorry I haven’t replied to your messages on youtube. Again, I’m pretty lazy. However, I’d be down to help Saizen if you guys ever decide to try to release Dr. Slump like you said you guys were thinking about doing.

To Saizen in general, would you guys ever think about picking up a live action series? There are several Kyou Kara Ore Wa Live Action movies and also Shonan Junai Gumi (which is pretty much like Kyou Kara Ore Wa but a bit more serious at times). If so I’d be down to assist you guys on that as well. I’m semi decent in Japanese but again like I said I need a quality checker.

PS I love you guys’ releases of Ashita no Joe. Mega props for picking up such an old series.

  19. sxdxdb4 : How lazy would you say you are, and does that mean you’d think you’d be too lazy to tl Kyou Kara for us (we’d have someone tl check it, of course).

About Dr.Slump, well, maybe, but you just said you’re lazy 😛

  20. Finally a fansub subs this anime. I’ve watched this one in cantonese like 12 years ago haha. Still wants to watch again in japanese with eng subs 🙂
One of the best anime. Nice one Saizen!
