Kuroko’s Basketball – Baka ja Kattenai no yo! OAD (Idiots Never Win!)

kuroko ova - final encode [v2] [3865BE18]_001_18731

Heeeeeeeey, folks! How’s it shaking? The NBA playoffs have started and a new Spring has finally come. With basketball upon us, I thought it was about time we finished up this special that I had been working on for far too long. So here’s the “Baka ja Kattenai no yo!” or “Idiots Never Win!” OAD that was bundled with Volume 25 of the manga in Japan.

The TL for this one was done by kokujin-kun (He also k-timed cuz he’s 1337). He actually came to the rest of the team with this way back last August and it got held up in the TS phase of the process for a long ass time. Anyway, I’ve been putting a few hours in every weekend on this since we dropped the batch, and it finally got all finished today. It’s a nice little story that takes place just before they play Touou at the end of Season 1, so there’s nothing in here that will really spoil Season 2, which, by the way… we’ve got the first 5 volumes of season 2 blu-rays and are working on them now.

So enjoy the show, enjoy the NBA playoffs, and Team Kuroko and I will be seeing you again. Cheers 😉

  1. Dude, the end cards aren’t a part of the real eps. I went over this when we started doing S1 with someone. They’re actual physical cards that are included in the box with their corresponding volume.

  2. Thanks for the continually great work, guys!

I hope S2 isn’t too far off, I’ve put off watching other groups so far, I needs my quality fansubs. 🙂

  3. Thanks for great work! I couldn’t find from you Kuroko no Basket: Oshaberi Shiyokka, I would love to have whole S1 series + specials from you, it’s in your plans?

  4. @hemmer – We’re doin’ our best here. We have significant progress made on the first two eps right now.

@fubuki – It’s not not in my plans, but it’s definitely not high on my list of priorities.

The special you’re talking about was released on a DVD fan disc in Japan called “owaranai natsu” (never-ending summer):

It was only released in DVD format as well, and I tend to try to get us blu-rays. We did this special because of 2 reasons:

    1. kokujin-kun came to me with it and offered to translate it (ie. do the heavy lifting).
    2. He also brought along a copy of the DVD ISO for it.

Having said that, if you feel like getting a hold of the DVD fan disc it was released on and giving us the ISO for it, that’d be awesome 🙂

There’s also another fan disc that was recently released that does have a blu-ray version. That one’s called “hikari sasu basho e” (To where the light shines):

This one has a special named, “Oshaberi demo shimasen ka.” If you’d like to get the BDMV for that for us too, that’d be great 🙂

  5. Good to know, I will check for it, maybe somewhere will be uploaded this blu-ray or if I collect money to buy it for you (I am not living in USA or Euro Zone, so price is higher for me ;_;)

  6. I pay for stuff in yen and buy it directly from Japan… so the price doesn’t really change based on where I live…

I highly doubt that fan disc is going to show up online anywhere… because not a single blu-ray version of S2 has appeared anywhere in any format.

  7. But to get yen you need to exchange money to it or earn in it, in Poland earning in yen is somewhat hard and our own currency is worth nothing :X

  8. Yes, you need money to buy stuff. I spend my own money buying stuff. As it’s my money, I choose what I want to buy. I’m not a rich man by any stretch of the imagination, and I don’t come from money. I work hard to buy the stuff I want. If you want something, I suggest you do the same. That’s the way the world works.

We took donations for the S1 blu-rays that I had already purchased (The donations didn’t cover all my costs, but I did recoup around 80% of the money I spent). I decided against donations for S2, because people behind the scenes (not from Saizen) started suggesting that I was pocketing money and didn’t buy the blu-rays – something that really pissed me off.

  9. @AMS
That’s my plan, sadly I need to change work because of health problems but my ex-boss told me if I need recomendation I will get it. I hope I will catch up hiragana before I find new job or my Sensei will kill/rape me, from her I prefer rape :X
