Saizen Speedsubs in limbo

Hey there. The fans didn’t come when we asked for help, so here we’re now, with two very busy quality checkers. We normally had a rule to not take more than two days on a task, but lately it’s been broken over and over. Right now, one of the quality checkers hasn’t managed to QC the episode even after four days. In addition to this, I’ve got a baby who often cries when i want to sleep, plus I got the first floor of my house to work at. Needless to say, unless we get two or three new quality checkers, this will be a slow project again.

P.S We can’t either release as “Saizen” since we don’t have enough quality checkers to maintain the usual Saizen quality, leaving releases of the project in complete limbo. I’ve faith that episodes will be translated, timed and edited, but other than that, I can’t say what will happen.

P.P.S I want to stress that Saizen Speedsubs’ Captain Tsubasa project is the only project you will get updates like this for, so do not ask about other projects.

  1. Hey guys, i found about you recently, after idk how much time that i’ve been looking for Captain Tsubasa fansubbed. So I really want to see this project continue without problems.

It’s been a while since i had anything to do with fansubs, and actually i’m kinda busy with university but I always have time to watch anime so QC wouldn’t be any different to me, i guess. So just tell me where I sign lol

  2. Hope your not going too hard on QC applicant tests, else you might simply be turning away extra help. Most people who care enough to quality check an episode are likely able to contribute in some way even if its only a little. And I think QC is that one position on the team that tends to attract people who want to help as part timers rather than jump right into a speed sub project.

  3. The thing is that QC is not something anyone can do WELL, you have to have a good eye for image quality as well as to spot mistakes in the translation and/or timing. I’ve seen fansubs whose QC’s felt like they were in a “premier” (meaning they just get to see the episode before everyone else) and won’t even care about checking the quality of the release.

Every position in a fansub must be covered by people who’s been tested in some way, even the QC, otherwise you’d just ask your mom/sis/friend to come over and see the episode, and say “yay! job’s done”.

  4. I’m not planning on lowering the standards for this test and take in anyone who simply wants to help out. There’s no reason to have 10 people send in reports with more than 50% being junk, one found typo, grammatical incorrect notes etc. It will only be annoying to go through, and won’t necessarily improve the subs.
